SOUND ENERGY DYNAMICS

HEALING WITH SOUND AND VIBRATION

BY JENIFER MCKENZIE

Have you ever listened to a beautiful piece of music and felt very uplifted as a result? What was it that made you feel so good? Was it the mood of the music, or was it the actual sound of the music washing over you? As we listen to the sound of music, it becomes the dominant resonance , and as we begin to resonate with it, our emotional state begins to shift to where the music is resonating. This is the physics of sound vibration at work.

As a professional musician, I have spent my life observing how sound vibrations affect people, places and things. It has been an interesting journey and I continue to observe profound changes in people through my music and through Sound Energy Dynamics (SED), a healing modality using tuning forks that resonate with the frequencies of the body’s energy centers or chakras.

What is Sound Energy Dynamics?

SED was developed over 14 years ago and has been taught world wide by Christopher Tims, Founding and Officiating Minister for the Order of the Blue Star. This technique of healing dates back to the ancient times in Tibet. The Lamas would use bells and bowls over and around the body to clear the chakras and restore balance. Christopher Tims has adapted this technique by replacing the bells and bowls with tuning forks. He experimented with a variety of sound production devices, and the tuning forks proved to be, by far, the most effective. The forks are made from surgical grade stainless steel and are imported from Sheffield, England. As a musician, I have always known that tuning forks made out of steel will last for a long time without changing their pitch. Aluminum forks, however, change pitch very easily.

Through Christopher’s ability to see and hear each chakra, he was able to find the specific tones that effectively vibrated each energy center. This stimulation of the energy center is a result of its resonance to the frequency of the specific tuning fork.

What happens during a Sound Energy Dynamics Session?

In a session, the client lies on a massage table fully clothed. Many of the practitioners use The Magic Carpet Sound Table designed and built by Christopher Tims. These tables have a built-in sound system that deepens and enhances the experience of the session. The SED practitioner then begins the session by massaging the client’s feet. The tuning forks are passed over and around the body, touching various points on the body with the tip of the tuning fork. There is a specific tuning fork and pattern for each area of the body. Hands-on energy work complements the procedure and is experienced as a very nurturing part of the session.

The SED technique is based on the physics of vibration, resonance, and dissonance. By passing the tuning forks over and around the body, the sound becomes a carrier wave attracting any accumulated disruptive energy patterns stored in the body. Still acting as a carrier wave, the tuning fork is used to pull the old energy away from the body and is released and depolarized by stopping the vibration.. The energy centers, meridians, and all of the lower bodies are now cleared, balanced, and revitalized.

Diagnosis and prognosis have no part in an SED session, nor is anything prescribed. There is a singular recipe applied to all clients. What happens instead, is simply a washing of the windows of the energy centers. Most clients fall asleep and enjoy a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating sabbatical from their normal routine.

The SED technique does not encourage any processing of discordant emotions, memories, concepts and structures - those pass freely from the energy field with no effort on the client’s part. This is what the ancients would call "alchemy", or transformation without process.

After a session, many clients feel very relaxed and harmonious and experience a space that is very clear and clean. THIS IS WHO YOU REALLY ARE. You have just emptied yourself and can now experience a new-found sense of freedom from limitation. Every time you receive a tuning, you can experience this space again and again. Are you ready to live a life based on what YOU value most?

What are the three levels of a tuning?

In a Level 1 tuning, the main chakra systems are washed clean. In a Level 2, the existing connective pathways between each of the chakras are cleared, strengthening the connections. This promotes integration, harmony and freedom from inner conflict. A Level 3 tuning revitalizes the internal and external meridians, helping to break up old, crystallized patterns that shape our experience. It frees us to have a new world that is based on our hopes and dreams. A Level 3 includes a Level 1 and 2. A Level 2 includes a Level 1.

How can I get a tuning?

SED practitioners have been trained world-wide. Some of the practitioners in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area advertise in the Holistic Networker. Some of the practitioners are listed on our web site at www.soundhealing.org. I do sessions in my home in Cedar Hill, Tx. where I have a studio with my sound table. I also travel (with my table) to locations where there are at least 4-5 people wanting sessions. You could also experience a tuning at a holistic fair where we always try to have a booth.

How can I learn this technique?

Many people enjoy learning the tuning fork work so that they can tune themselves as often as they want. Very few modalities adapt themselves well to self application. The tuning fork work, however, is easily learned and easily applied to oneself. For a list of current classes available, please check our website.
